The award-winning party game, Apples
to Apples®, is now available in a junior version.
This fast moving game promotes reading, vocabulary development,
thinking skills and social skills. It's great for home and
classroom: easy to learn, sets up and cleans up quickly, it's
flexible for different group sizes and playtimes, and it's
fun!
Apples to Apples®
Kids plays just like the version for ages 12 and
above except that the number of cards held in each players
hand is reduced from 7 to 5, and the number of green apple
cards needed to win is reduced to four. The game consists
of 2 sets of cards: green apple cards, each displaying a
word that describes people, places, things and events, and
red apple cards, each showing the name of a person, place
or event. The card tray keeps the cards stacked and makes
it easy to move them as the role of judge rotates around
the table. Each player simply selects the red apple card
from their hand that they think is most like the green apple
card played by the judge, and places it face down on the
table. The judge mixes the cards, reads them aloud and selects
the one he or she thinks is most like the word on the green
apple card. For example, the judge might turn up the green
apple card "Creepy"
and the red apple cards played could include "Rats," "Muddy
Feet," "Aladdin" "Jail," and "In the Basement." The judge's
decision is final and the green card is awarded to the
player of the red card selected by the judge. Each round
takes about two minutes and all players participate in
each round.
