In this fast-paced game of categories, players use
their red apple cards to make the best match to that
round's green apple card. The rotating position of judge
is used to determine the best match, which can be exacting
or whimsical. The judge's word is final.
Green apple cards display a term and several of its
meanings. The "Great" card, for example, also lists
"Good", and "Important", related, but quite different
meanings of the word. Red apple cards include "Blowing
Your Nose", "Grocery Stores", "Singing", and "Snoopy".
Each of these has a bit of description. "Blowing Your
Nose" has the favor test of "Please use a tissue!."
You can build decks to cover a more focused topic
or vocabulary, or you can play with all of them and
simply explore the incredible flexibility
of language. Apples to Apples has several variants,
and your students will invent more!
